Willow/Hazel – Y3/4

Hello everyone and welcome to the Willow and Hazel pages.  We will celebrate our learning here, showing and telling you what we have been doing.

Date: February 2017

We have been . . .

Wow! What an fantastic half term! We have been amazed with how focussed everyone has been since we came back after Christmas. We’re now halfway through our topic Good Vibrations. In particular, we’ve enjoyed experimenting with musical instruments and learning about vibrations and pitch!  This term we have each written poems in the style of The Sound Collector, by Roger McGough. Here is part of Hazel 3’s class poem:

Mrs Ferens called this afternoon,
Dressed all in green and black,
Put every sound into her bag,
And put it on her back.

More recently we were lucky to have had a visit from Google Expeditions. We were able to visit places across the world in virtual reality. One of our favourites was when we went underwater by the Galapagos Islands. Here is a photo of us getting swept away under the sea, all in the comfort of the school hall!

We have been . . .

For the past few weeks we have been very actively working on our stories for the Storybash competition – “Once upon a time in Banbury”.  We have been using props to tell our stories before we start to write them and then using Puppetpals on the iPads to tell our stories.  We have also enjoyed being geologists as part of our Rock n Roll topic about the Stone Age.
