PE and Sport Premium

The PE and Sport Premium is extra funding given to primary schools in England to improve the quality of physical education and sport for all pupils. It is allocated to develop teacher confidence and competence through CPD, enabling them to offer more opportunities for pupils to participate and promote healthy lifestyles and wellbeing.

We believe that PE is an essential part of a child’s education. PE, school sports, and physical activity benefit both their physical and mental health and help to develop resilience, confidence, and self-esteem. The Chief Medical Officers guidelines state that all young people aged 5-18 years should aim for an average of at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity per day across the week.

We provide a fun and inclusive environment where pupils can develop their skills, challenge themselves, and work collaboratively.

The current outcomes for the funding are:

  1. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sports
  2. Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
  3. The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement
  4. Broader experience of a range of sports and physical activities offered to all pupils
  5. Increased participation in competitive sports
